It has a european ford v4 engine wich is the original engine that has been updated with a weber 2 barrel down draft carburetor, 4 speed manual on the columns shift and is front wheel drive. 1968 saab 96 deluxe v4 runs and drives~ no reserve! It originally had a little 38 horsepower “corn popper” 2 stroke engine that was available until 1968.

I have all the chrome pieces, bumpers, tail lights, trunk handle, etc, to finish putting the car together. It’s been fun and reliable and was a nice, strong runner, until suddenly this summer the transaxle began making an ugly grinding noise.

I purchased this car in 2014 to complete my bucket list of saab models i wanted to collect, and hauled it back to new england on a dolly.
